Holy Cats It's HOT

The weather is killing me. But it only got up to 99 today (so far), rather than the expected 104. Everybody at work has been getting into stupid bickering arguments with each other, and the customers are a pain because it seems that drinking more makes your body cool off faster. Being drunk when it's 90 degrees out is SMART, right kids?

No real recent adventures at work, tho. I hate not having new stories to tell, but it's better to have a quiet, drama-free night than not.

While the DH was gone, I actually absconded from my original plan of power-cleaning. I did some excellent crafting, but the rest of any free time I had was spent on the couch in the AC watching OZ.

Did hitch up with my buddy Ben from HS, and we had a great lunch together. Here's a photo of us at the HS reunion!

SAD

Don't know what I'm going to do. DH leaves for Milwaukee tomorrow for 6 days. We haven't been apart for more than 2 nights since, oh, 2002. I did pick up some extra shifts at work to keep myself busy (so out of those 6 days, I have 2 off, one of which being the day he gets back). In the best of all possible worlds, I will finish up a few crafty things I've been working on and powerclean the apartment. Lots of laundry to keep me occupied. Other than that, life has basically (as usual) revolved around work. The means to the end is the vacation coming up on 2 1/2 weeks. There haven't even been any good work stories to tell lately. Maybe Monday night I'll call my friend Ben and see if he wants to go out and meet for a drink or a bite to eat.

Scared

Just got home from work about 15 minutes ago and have to be up again in 6 hours! Ack!

Another weird night with a lot of weird customers. I thought all the real freaks were at the Vikings games!

Tired Again

Well, the weekend with the Cleveland Indians went well, just super freaky busy at the bar, both pre and post game. Tonight just boiled down to WHAT THE HELL, THIS ISN'T A FULL MOON type of craziness. I blame it on the hot hot weather. It's making people a little weird and a lot sassy. If I have to chase one more 50-something down and tell him/her that they can't leave the bar WITH THEIR BEER, I shall snap. The Buzzcocks played an all age show tonight at a neighborhood bar, so we got the aftermath and had to request the absence of underage kids after the gig. They were not happy about it, but I'm not losing our liquor license (and my job) over it.

Looking forward to my day off tomorrow (hopefully - another Twins game and I may be called in). Laundry and back to work on my special swap for Glitter. Now if I can only get inspired. The ideas are there, the creation is hard.

Kitties

Okay, much to the amusement of Mr. Rocket, I returned home from the Humane Society with NO EXTRA KITTIES. It was amazingly hard to do. While we are happily child-free, we are "one cat short of being the crazy cat house on the block" according to Mr. Rocket. All of our cats were saved/abandoned. They also have all of their claws, but are spayed/neutered. Very important. But it did break my heart to see all the little meowzers who have "owner died" or "owner didn't want" or "stray" listed on their little sheet of info. Please spay/neuter your pets. Please make a serious decision before taking one in. I love all my little monkey kitties.

Tired

Really tired. I love my job, I truly do, but holy smokes, I don't understand why I'm exhausted all the time. Maybe it's just the dread of the upcoming Vikings season. I am just so over drunk assholes.

Good story tho from Tuesday:
Phone rings at work
I answer "Bar X, how may I help you?"
Caller: "I need you to find Miss Silly Monkey Sprinkle Pants for me."
Me: "I'm sorry, we don't have a pager. If you describe Miss Sprinkle Pants, maybe I can find her."
Caller: "Well, what time does bingo end?"
Me: "Wha? Bingo? Huh?" (we don't have bingo, nor ever have at Bar X)
Caller: "BINGO. WHAT. TIME. DOES. IT. END?" (apparently I'm an idiot for not knowing what time our non-existant bingo ends)
Me: "Miss, I'm sorry, we have never had bingo here. We have karaoke tonight though."
Caller: "No, not karaoke. BINGO."
Me: "Nope, no bingo." (meanwhile, bartender on duty has overheard conversation and has promptly started yelling "N28", "G13", and "Bingo" in the background)
Caller just hangs up on me.

I miss my friends. I hardly get to see anyone anymore, as we are all on completely different schedules. The one shining light that I do have is VACATION coming up next month, and come hell or high water, I'm going. http://www.gusplaceresort.com/cabin02.htm is where I shall be for 5 wonderful and relaxing days next month, with Mr. Rocket in tow. It's not Mexico, but it's not here! All I can think about is parking my ass on that beach with several bottles of wine and some cheese, fruit, and crackers. Oh, and several great books. The resort also has a 4 hole golf course, so a little smacking a tiny ball around might help destress me also!

Latest project has been: knitting little bankies for homeless kitties at the Coon Rapids Humane Society. Also, working desperately on a movie/book swap that I'm currently involved in. Got 2 parts of it done, but am crushed on inspiration for the rest.

class of 86 reunion

class of 86 reunion

I had a great time! It was fun to see who else was hanging out at the "bad kids" (aka smoking) table...

Joining again

Trying to create this stinks. Maybe someday, I shall get the hang of it.
